on/in/above/over

❶ on是指与物体表面接触，在某物体的表面上。

比如：

A lovely dog is lying on the table.

一条可爱的小狗正躺在桌子上。

❷in表达“在（物体的范围或者形状）之中”，有占据某物部分的暗示。

比如：

There is a bird in the tree.

树上有只鸟儿。

❸above翻译也是“在…上面”，但不接触表面，也不一定是一个物体的垂直上面。

比如：

The plane flew above the clouds.

飞机在云层之上飞。

❹over是指在物体的正上方，有时也翻译为“覆盖、越过”。

比如：

I saw a stone bridge over the river.

我看见一座石桥横跨河上。

between和among

❶between表达某人或某物处于“两者之间”，常用between A and B。

比如：

The history of Qipao illustrates the complicated relationship between tradition and fashion.

旗袍的历史勾勒了传统和时尚之间复杂的关系。

❷among也表达“在…之中”，但是对象一般是三者或更多。

比如：

He was happy to be among the friends again.

再次来到朋友之中，他感到很高兴。
