单项选择破解技巧大解读

英语听力虽然是高考的第一项题型,但实际上普遍拉分不大。鉴于此,单项选择可以说是打响英语考试的“第一枪”,那么如何快速准确地答题呢?如何打响“开门红”第一战?今天,石安老师带着大家一起战斗!

一、利用语境解题

近年来无论是高考试题还是平常单选题,不再是考查语言规则的死记硬背,而是注重考查语言知识的具体运用,即将语言知识置于一定的语境中,要求考生在实际语言环境中选择一个最佳的、最得体的选项。如:

I thought they’d be late for the concert, ——— they ended up getting there ahead of time.

A. but B. or C. so D. for

【分析】A项的but意为“但是”,表转折;B项的or意为“或者,否则”,表选择或结果;C项的so意为“因此”,表结果;D项的for,意为“因为”,表原因。句子的意思是:我原以为我们听音乐会会迟到的,(可是)我们却提前到了。根据句子上下文的语境可知,空格处应填一个表转折关系的连词,故答案选择A.

二、利用隐藏信息解题

做单项选择题,只具备语言知识是不够的,有时还要借助于生活常识、科普知识等辅助条件才能作出正确的选择。如果隐含条件挖掘不到位,就会产生错误的结果。所以,仅读出句子的表面意义是不够的,有时还需“读”出它的言下之意,弦外之音。如:

To save some of the human languages before they are forgotten,the students in our school started a discussion “Save Our ——— ”.

A. Sky B. Life C. Arts D. Voices

【分析】本题句意为:为了拯救一些即将被遗忘的人类语言,我校学生举行了一场“拯救我们的”的讨论。其中的隐含信息为To save some of the human languages,据此可判断引号内的内容为Save Our Voices.voice意为“声音”,因为语言与声音密不可分,故答案选D.

三、利用句子意群解题

意群是一个句子内完整意思的组成单位。考生做题时需要理解一个个意群并能正确划句

子成分,才能做出正确的判断。如:

Occasions are quite rare ——— I have the time to spend a day with my kids.

A. who B. which C. why D. when

【分析】本题句意为:我很少有时间与孩子们在一起呆一天。此题是对定语从句的考查,先行词occasions与后面的定语从句被are quite rare分隔开了,考生需要判断意群I have the time to spend a day with my kids是occasions的修饰成分,同时结合对定语从句的分析,先行词occasions指时间,故定语从句中关系词用作状语,所以选when.

四、利用还原法解题

有一些单项选择题的测试点本来十分简单,但命题者故意把题干变复杂,将一个同学们熟悉的结构巧妙地改写为一个大家不熟悉的结构,以增加试题的难度和灵活性。对于这类题,同学们可以反其道而行之,即把题干还原成自己熟悉的结构,这样题目就会变得简单,答案就会一目了然。如:

It was in the Mississippi River ——— Mark Twain spent much of his childhood.

A. how B. which C. that D. where

【分析】本题考查强调句的运用。考生可以把It was和that去掉,将其还原为陈述句。此句的意思是:马克·吐温在密西西比河度过了他童年的许多时光。所以答案选C.

五、通过删减法解题

有时一个句子很长,考生一看就头晕,此时,只需抓住主句,把句子的冗余信息排除,问题就迎刃而解了。如:

1. ——— was most important to her, she told me, was her family.

A. It B. This C. What D.As

【分析】题中的she told me为插入语,如果将其去掉,则可以看出was most important to her是主语从句,且该主语从句缺少主语,所以答案应该选what。全句意为:她告诉我,对她来说最重要的是她的家庭。

2.Let’s learn to use the problem we are facing ——— a steping stone to future success.

A. to B. for C. as D. by

【分析】本句意为:我们要学会利用目前的问题作为未来成功之门的钥匙。句中的we are facing为附加信息,如果将其去掉,则可以看出此处考查的是use...as这一搭配,其意为“把···用作”,故答案选择C.

六、通过增补法解题

省略是增加高考难度的常用方法,命题人往往省略句中的一些成分以增加试题的难度。考生在做这

类题时,一定要弄清题意,认真分析句子结构,然后将句中省略部分补充完整。如:

—Who shoud be responsible for the accident?

—The boss, not the workers.They just carried out the orders ——— .

七、利用关键词解题

有时试题会给出一些提示信息,以暗示考生题目的考查点。做这类题目时,考生应充分利用这些关键信息,找到解题的突破口。如:
