Over 40 years ago,a country music DJ convention  (大会)  was  held  every  year  in Nashville,Tennessee. Many country performers used to attend (参加) the convention to give their performances.Fans would go to Nashville hoping to see their favorite performers. In the end,so many fans began showing up in Nashville that a festival named Fan Fair was born.

The first Fan Fair was held in April 1972,in Nashville for four days. Some of country music’s  biggest stars attended. There were about fifty  thousand fans. The first Fan Fair was so successful that planning began almost immediately for 1973.The date was changed to June, when the weather would be better.Over one hundred thousand fans attended the second Fan Fair.

Every year brought so many performers and fans to Fan Fair that,in 1982,it was moved to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds.Fan Fair stayed at the fairgrounds for another nineteen years.

There was always the unexpected during the festival. In 1974,former Beatle Paul McCartney attended. In 1992,more than six hundred reporters from Europe,Asia, and South America went to cover the appearance of a popular star,Billy Ray Cyrus, who had introduced a new country line dance. In  1996,Garth Brooks, who made a surprise appearance, signed autographs (签名) for 23 hours.

In 2001,Fan Fair returned to downtown Nashville as the world’s biggest country music festival. Now,over one hundred and twentyfive thousand country music fans go to Nashville every June.As you can imagine, those who want to attend Fan Fair must plan ahead. For example, they need to buy a ticket several months ahead of time.Of course, there’s  much more to prepare.

Next Thursday,November 27th (the fourth Thursday in November),Americans will gather with family and friends to share a big meal to celebrate Thanksgiving. They might play games, tell stories or watch football on television together.

Angelo Rosa has more Thanksgiving memories than most people. From Drexel Hill,Pennsylvania, the 100yearold man lives in the same house where he celebrated a great number of Thanksgivings.

But he says it was different when he was a child.Mr Rosa was just three when his family came to America.“When we were small children,Thanksgiving was never a very big holiday because at the time we actually didn’t pay too much attention to it.” But,also,he says, his parents faced a language difficulty.“They were from Italy and spoke very broken English, because they were the first generation that came over here.”

And the family had little money. There were six Rosa children.Mr Rosa’s father was a coal miner in Pennsylvania. The family was not able to have big, costly dinners, especially during the hard time of the 1930’s.But Mr Rosa says Thanksgiving dinners became a tradition in his own family after he married and had children.

This Thanksgiving,Angelo Rosa will go to the home of his daughter about twenty minutes away.He will celebrate the day with loved ones, including his greatgrandchildren.

On the other side of the country,Cathie Dahlstrom is preparing dishes for a group of 35 to 40 people in Concord,California. We asked Ms Dahlstrom what she is thankful for this  year, her  first  answer  is “The election”.She said she is also deeply grateful for her very large family.Ms Dahlstrom has one daughter. She has five younger brothers and sisters. She also has eight stepbrothers and stepsisters. Many of them and their families will be at the Thanksgiving dinner.

Inside Out is one of my favorite Disney/Pixar movies. The story is about a young girl named Riley who moves from Minnesota to San Francisco with her family and how she deals with her emotions (情感) through the move. These five emotions in Riley’s  brain are Joy,Fear,Anger,Disgust (厌恶) and Sadness. These emotions play a very important role in her life.I can relate because I am an 11yearold girl and I am very in touch with my emotions and preteen feelings.

The film is extremely beautiful and you couldn’t ask for better direction from Pete Doctor. The use of the right colors for the characters is great. For example,Joy is yellow,Sadness is blue,Disgust is green,Fear is purple and Anger of course is red.Sadness plays a main role in the story and it makes me wonder why we are told not to be sad.I think it’s  important to be sad when the time comes. The end of the movie pretty much got me and the whole audience (观众) (families, couples and even elderly people) in tears and I cried very hard.

I recommend (推荐) this movie for anyone from 8 to 18 because it has enough joy in it for younger kids to like it even though it does have some sad moments.I believe that adults will like it too.And I give it 4 out of 5 stars because it connects to an older audience even though it is designed for a younger audience.I think younger children can see this, but a parent would have to explain some things to them after the movie.
